We are currently looking to add a Production Manager to our ever busy team.  The role will provide exposure to prestigious clients and provides a varied and interesting challenge for someone who enjoys being busy and putting their own ideas forward. Brand implementation and corporate identity roll out is a complicated job - we work with businesses to ensure their brand is delivered consistently by expertly providing consultancy, audit and project management, fit-out, signs and wayfinding, graphics, interiors, financing and regular maintenance.

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose is to oversee and manage the production process, ensuring that products are manufactured efficiently, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time and within budget, by planning, scheduling, coordinating, and organizing various production activities and resources.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Product Launch

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Activation teams to define scope and client expectations and work to develop product designs that are within estimated budget, meets client expectations and fits with our chosen manufacturing partner’s core capabilities. In addition, attention to the ease of installation shall be considered with all designs.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to document the design concepts for manufacturing.
  • Work with suppliers to complete first article launch. Travel to manufacturing location to review and approve first articles.  Track all changes required and document the change process and completion dates.  Ensure manufacturing processes are per Principle standard and are developed to reduce the risk of production failure causing warranty.   Including, but not limited to the development of packaging, tooling and set-up design, supplier’s quality processes, and general manufacturing processes. 
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to update design documentation per first article approval process.
  • Perform periodic quality checks at the plant as product rollout commences.
  • Installation training shall be done as the first sites are installed to ensure the installation companies are performing their duties to our expectations.

 Value Engineering

  • Bring value engineering ideas to the table and work with the manufacturing partners to solidify cost reductions and the required design changes within assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to get approval to proceed with the proposed VE opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to implement approved value engineering ideas.

 Warranty reduction

  • Own warranty costs per assigned accounts.
  • Look for opportunities to improve products, processes or supply chain to reduce warranty costs.

 Bid and Quote

Aid the process as directed to help the business continue building our customer base, product offerings and revenue.  Primarily through the specification and development of pre-sale signage for competitive bid purposes with suppliers that are selected by the Production Engineer. 

  • Specification development as needed
  • Act as technical liaison to answer supplier questions as they arise

Custom Signage

Conduct periodic meetings with project managers to access and identify custom signage requirements on upcoming orders.  Perform gap analysis and offer direction on what steps the project managers need to take to obtain needed information for Design Engineering.   Ensure production of custom signage is per the Principle specifications and quality requirements. 

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes - Essential:

  • BS in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, expected to be 50% of time.
  • Ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in the sign manufacturing industry.  Either a project manager with a technical acumen or a manufacturing engineer with high level interpersonal skills.  Very strong customer focus. Understands customer needs and makes customer satisfaction a key priority. Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Strong communications skills. Should be effective in communicating one-on-one or to small groups, by phone or in person, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated professional maturity and business acumen
  • Displays confidence, with a high degree of personal motivation and energy.
  • Ability to manage stress incumbent to a business environment that is deadline oriented.
  • Able to multitask and function effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management and deadline prioritizing skills.
  • Consistent, high quality work.
  • Advanced PC skills (Windows-based) required, especially in Excel.
  • Reliable and dependable relative to punctuality and attendance.
